A Celebration of Christ’s Light

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

Every year at Christmas time right down the road from our church, Hartwood Acres has a “Celebration of Lights.” Tons of lights made into various reindeer figures or Santa Claus and much more are set up and people drive through this fantastic display of lights for about 30 minutes. It’s wonderful. But, it’s for a season. And then it’s done.

This Christmas season we are going to reflect on Jesus as the Light that came into the world to give mankind life for all eternity. The Light of Christ still shines today.

All of December and the first week of January, the messages and songs will match this theme of Jesus as Light. Here’s how it will go:

December 6th               “God is Light”
December 13th             “Jesus is the Light of salvation”
December 20th             “Am I lit up?”
December 24th             “Celebrating Christ’s Light”
December 27th             “A Life in the Light”
January 3rd                    “Shining Brightly”

Let’s not lose the thought and lifestyle of celebrating Jesus as Light as we increase the pace of busyness during the Christmas season. Celebrate Jesus as you shop, go over the river and through the woods to grandmother’s house, entertain and decorate your homes. Jesus is the Light of our lives forever. Let Him shine through you so people around will see Him as the message of Christmas and of life.

Blessings,

Pastor Mike
