An Inside Look

For the past 13 years, I have had the privilege of being known as the “pastor’s wife.” As a young girl growing up in an Alliance church where missions was emphasized. I prayed daily, “please God, don’t make me be a missionary.” Apparently, I failed to mention any other areas of Christian service so God chose this one. As He knew, I have been blessed to serve in this role and especially at DAC.

Being a pastor’s wife is a unique in that I am often privy to the inner workings of the church and the personal lives of the congregants. I am also fortunate to work part-time at the church in the position of Volunteer Coordinator, so I can be involved in helping others serve. Although there can be difficult times in church life, I thought it would be encouraging to everyone to have a glimpse into what I see at our church.

Did you know…

* A volunteer clears the parking lot of snow all winter.
* A few men gather each Saturday night at 10:00pm at the church to pray for the people and the services.
* Someone has come alongside a “fatherless family” to assist with projects, guidance, and financial help.
* A couple generously provided Christmas gifts for children of a previous MOPS mom who’s having a tough time.
* A woman is always thinking of how she can meet the needs of the church and making sure the homebound are not overlooked.
* A dear saint is praying daily for the church and the people.
* Several people donate money for special needs and projects in the church (staff, computers, projectors, etc.) when asked.
* Many volunteers serving on Sunday morning arrive at 7:00am to practice, set-up pastries and coffee, and ensure the church is warmly prepared for services.
* Several volunteers serve faithfully every week to provide consistency and a familiar faces to the children.

There are countless acts of kindness, mercy, and service occurring each week within the body of Christ in our church. I am overwhelmed at times, to know the level of genuineness and sincerity of Christian love among the believers who attend. Our family has been blessed by people more times than we can count and I pray your experience has been the same as you worship our Savior week after week at DAC.
If you would like to play a part in making the church a blessing to others, by all means, JUMP IN! If you don’t know where to serve or what you can do, please see me for ideas. We are all part of the body of Christ with each one called to work together so the BODY is fully functioning. I look forward to serving with you as we wait for the return of our Lord.
