| A New Beginning…
October 1st marked a significant date for Dorseyville Alliance Church. In case you didn’t know, we currently function on an October 1st – September 30th fiscal year. That means we have now just entered a new chapter of ministry. So, I would like to take a moment to write why this new year is so important in the life of your church. The Bible teaches us to be salt and light to the world (Matthew 5:13-16). The church has been growing at a steady rate of approximately 20% per year for the last few years. Many of you are inviting friends and family to worship where they are experiencing music and preaching anchored in the Word of God. This outreach honors and pleases God. We are seeing lives transformed by the power of God through various ministries. Praise the Lord! Many adults are regularly participating in small groups, Bible studies, MOPS, one-on-one mentoring, and weekly worship. Teenagers are learning what it means to be committed Christians and live holy lives pleasing to God. Children are being taught the essentials of a strong foundation of faith. As a result, people of all ages are being changed through the power of God’s grace. Meetings are taking place, and plans are being made for the sanctuary expansion. This project is designed to facilitate more people in worship where they can hear timeless and transformational truths from the Bible and meet new friends like you. As believers, we have the responsibility to build bridges into people’s lives throughout our neighborhoods for the sake of the Gospel. Being salt and light in our community is exciting, but it comes at a price. In 2006 and 2007, our church budget and staffing were significantly increased in accordance with ministry needs. This year, even though staffing has increased with the full time hire of Jason Arnold, the budget has only increased by about 7%. Therefore, the weekly needed income is now $6,999 to fund ministries, staffing, facilities, and total operational expenses. Even though news anchors are talking about the financial crisis throughout the country, we know that we are still stewards and God owns it all. He always has and always will (Psalm 24:1)! It is His desire for people to be saved and follow Him – that’s what your church is all about. Dorseyville Alliance Church exists to help people become committed followers of Jesus Christ. I pray you are committed to the church’s mission by supporting the work of Christ with your time, talents, prayers, and financial gifts. In His Service, Pastor Scott |
